We kept meeting the same student. Strong marks. Real abilities. Ambition and motivation. Zero verified work experience, stuck in a catch-22 that had nothing to do with their skills, and everything to do with a system that asks for experience before it'll give you any.

On the other side, we met SMB organisations keen to hire good student talent for real work but struggle to do so. They need hiring processes that are flexible, responsive, and easy - with no long term commitments, costly compliance admin and payroll to manage. At the same time, Tertiary Education institutions are struggling with increasing expectations for student equity and employability, the ROI of costly WIL programs that don't scale, and students facing Placement Poverty and cost of living pressures.

Alumable exists to close it in a coordinated and integrated way: 1) real, paid gigs for students, 2) fully compliant, low-friction access to student talent for the businesses that hire them, and 3) a way to finally connect earning with learning so that education institutions can provide the support students need to grow from every gig.

We're building Australia's first Earn While You Learn platform, a scalable way for tertiary institutions to prepare every student for the AI era. Our skills-first platform helps students graduate with confidence, context and connections - what we call: career capital.
